Topic: Installion of tube shocks?

Considering replacing the ineffective, leaking after-market shock absorbers (not rebuildable) on my '35 sedan with modern tube shocks. Anyone have experience with one or more of the kits available? Thanks in advance for your input! Roger J.

I believe Chassis Engineering may have a kit for it. They also sell sway bars. You may find kits on eBay occasionally but be sure that what you buy fits your car.

Off the assembly line my '47 has stock tube shocks on the rear but the older style on the front. Oddly, no one seems to make conversion kits for '40s Fords anymore. But I got lucky .... A member sold me an old used kit he found in his barn.

Bought a kit from Bob Drake.... have rear end out of my '36 coupe, but have done a dry run and looks like everything lines up. You have to make 2 small notches to underside of car.

I put tube shocks on the back of my '36 using something like a 41-48 front shock kit, part no. 6001, from pete and jakes.

I did have to drill new holes in the frame and cut a small notch in the inner wheel well. - pic attached. but no welding required. I gotta wish someone would make a bracket that would bolt right up to the original shock holes.
I say "something like" a '41-48 kit because I seem to remember that the rear '36 spring wasn't the same width as a '41-48 front spring. you may have to buy the brackets separately from the shackle bolts and bushings.

pic of the passenger side shock installed with the '41-48 front bracket.

ps. I don't know why it's rotated, much less how to fix it.
