36 Ford??? None. It is not necessary. The ring and pinion are a matched set and have identical numbers etched (or stamped) into each. Follow Ford procedure to set pinion preload first (torque setting) then set both right and left axle housing gaskets sets with 0.008" thick gaskets and check free play (pinion to ring gear backlash) and carrier bearing loading. move gaskets around from L to R to get Fords Specifications, they can be found in the Ford service manual or there is a reprinted 32 to 36 engine & chassis repair manual V-13.

Setting carrier bearing preload and pinion to ring gear back lash can be a time consuming procedure, and it must be done by carefully following the procedures or you will have problems. There is a good "how to do" tech post with pictures on the H.A.M.B. website. If I can find that link I will attach it here. There are also some good posts on Fordbarn on how to setup these banjo rears. You could go there and do a search to find those.

My only addition to the mentioned discussion, is to isolate differential brg preload from pinion brg preload by doing the differential brg preload without the pinion in the centre section. Once that is satisfied, the rest is good. It's a few more steps but worth the satisfaction, in my mind.
