Topic: 34 hood bumpers

MICHV8    -- 07-31-2015 @ 6:42 AM
The car was disassembled when I bought it and the inner fenders do not have holes for the 2 small beveled rubber bumpers that come with the Vintique kit 40-16761-S…are there brackets that extend from the engine side? Also, are there brackets for the radiator side hood handles? Any photos available? Thanks!

Thanks MG...that helps alot. Are there hood bumpers on the inner fender as well?

MG...thanks! So if I look at pic 4, the rubber bumper is riveted to the inner fender directly and not to a separate bracket?

MG    -- 08-01-2015 @ 9:26 AM
Well, I don't know if its called the "inner fender" because it is a separate body part that the fender is also bolted to....

The little brackets for the bumpers are a 1933 item .

MG    -- 08-02-2015 @ 8:08 PM
@David J - I don't understand your post. The pictures I posted are of an un-restored, original 1934 Ford. I don't know for sure, but I think this area of the car is identical for both model years. Very few differences between the '33 and '34 cars....

David J    -- 08-02-2015 @ 8:56 PM
You are kidding about very few differences 33-34 ? Pics are of 4 different variations of the aprons . There is at least 3 more . See the little brackets on the hole type 33's .

My car is a '34....But MICHV8 may find your pictures useful....In his original post, his inquiry was about the 1934 Ford....

pic is an unrestored 33 and has the little brackets . The OP asked about these and they are 33 ONLY . Second reason for my response was the " very little difference between 33-34 " statement .

David J    -- 08-03-2015 @ 9:13 AM
And this is an unrestored 34 that does not have them .

MG    -- 08-03-2015 @ 10:55 AM
Good pictures, David. They should really help answer MICHV8's questions....

David J    -- 08-03-2015 @ 12:13 PM
Your pics did the job fine . I just wanted to show the 33 type he asked about .

MICHV8    -- 08-04-2015 @ 6:42 AM
Thanks to both of you for your efforts. My inner fenders have no holes for the small rubber bumpers shown in the 34 pic or the brackets shown in the 33 pic...

The holes for brackets or just bumpers are the same . Note the single apron on the cowl . That type is what I call the " transitional 33-34 " as it has both 33 and 34 features . The one pictured has just rubber bumpers but some of that type will have brackets . These aprons are a study all in themselves .
