Topic: Rewiring my 46 coupe

My 46 sedan coupe has a 49 flathead truck engine. I am talking with Rhode Island Wiring to order a complete new harness. They are concerned about possible differences in the engine bay i.e. location of oil and water temp sensors, hook up to the generator, location of the coil and the like. They are not concerned about under the dash connections.

I believe all the wiring in my car to be original. I also suspect that a wiring harness for a 46 Ford would be just fine - but I could be wrong.

I will appreciate any and all help. Has anyone been through this, or a similar helpful situation.

Thanks in advance.

Assuming that your car originaly had a V8, the temp and oil senders and generator connections should be in the same location. The coil will be on the right front of the engine instead of the left front. That could mean the batt. to coil would be too short, which wouldn't be hard to fix. If you order a 1946 v8 wiring loom, it should work fine. Since you have a later engine, it sounds like you are not doing a concours restoroation.
