  Morning All,
My motor, the rebuilt one in my '37 pick-up is worthless, I can use all the new parts and put togeather another one. What I can't find is the layout for the head studs, there are 3 different ones. 21 stud v-8. Thanks
Gary

  Morning, Carpguy:

This is kind of a S.W.A.G., but I would think that if you lay the head on a flat surface, and measure the depth of the holes from the top washer boss to the surface, you will get 3-different measurements. On later heads, you might get 3-studs that are just a little longer to accommodate the oil filter mounting plate.

  HI CARGUY
sorry to hear about the engine,
I have a few engines,if interested let me know,
also the 21 V8 85 head studs are
longer ones up top
next longer 1 row down
and shorter ones
down at the bottom, this is if my memory is correct,
but if you look at the head, from the end you will see,
there might be 3 longer ones just for the oil filter bracket,
but I took my oil filter off and opted to change oil more, versus the 70 year old oil lines, do not need one of them breaking,
ALSO how did you make out with the person that sold you the truck,,,,,??
hope this helps 37RAGTOPMAN

  Morning all,
Thank you for the information. I will talk to the guy that sold me engine soon. I think he will be ok with it. I'm saving all my tags and keeping track of my hours. Now that the engine is apart I'm stripping the paint off of all the engine stuff and am going to detail everything out. Just wish this didn't happen.
