Topic: Clutch pedal travel

I just took the remains of the drivers side floor out of my 36 fordor and when I did, the clutch pedal came back about 6 inches. This doesn't seem correct. I realize it rests against the back of the wooden floorboard, but this seems extreme. The car shifts fine, but shouldn't there be a fix? How can I take up the slack?
Thanks in advance.

The fix is to replace the floorboard. Then adjust the clutch to have 1" to 1 1/2" free play at the top.

Pinsky, there is nothing wrong with your clutch pedal, the floor board is the upper stop.

If everything worked well before you removed the floorboard leave the pedal alone. The return spring is what moved the pedal. As others have noted the floorboard is the stop for the pedal.
