I'm learning as I go so please have patience with me. I have a 1951 Custom, flathead v-8, my grandfather bought it new. However, I'm in the process of restoring; I pulling the engine and can not reach the top transmission bolt to the flywheel housing, driver side. Any suggestions?

are you taking the transmission off first and then the bellhousing.. yhink if you drain the trans and buy one of those engine lift kits,, hrbor frieght,, you can angle the engine and trans together for removal

I came up with the same solution. I'm taking the front grill off to give me more room to pull the engine with the trans connected.
One last question, I have an engine stand, 1000lb rated, from Harbor Freight. Since this is my first, do you mount the engine to the stand at the bell housing after removing the trans?
thanks for your input.

Do not mount the engine to the stand at the bell housing. Remove the bell housing and mount the stand to the block. Also, regarding access to the trans bolts. Did you remove the floor pan hump inside the car? You can also access the upper bell housing bolts from inside the car after you remove the floor mat or carpeting.

Yes, the floor pan is on the right side and the problem is getting to the upper left side bolt of the trans to the bell housing. I'm removing the front grill assembly to give me more room and will pull the engine with the trans. I have a stand for the trans.
Any additional info/guidance will be appreciated.
