I was at a car show with my restored 1941 Coupe. There was a guy with a 1940 Street Rod. He looked over my car and the rear bumper. He asked me to look at his bumper. He said few people know his bumper and others like it were an option offered by Ford in 1940. The FORD was cut out. I really doubt this was an option. He had a clear red insert in it and made a third brake light out of it. Was a cut out of FORD on the rear bumper a factory option?

Joe, Alan is correct. There was only ONE bumper fit to 1940 Ford passenger vehicles. It was fit to both the front and rear and had two ribs on the back. NO "Ford" script or anything else interrupted the smooth "face" surface. Mike "Kube" Kubarth

I think the guy WAS misinformed. His bumper was the same as my '41. He did seemed sincere. I thought I would bring it up because with these old Fords ya never know.
