Thanks for the replys,if I did go ahead with the restoration I would farm everthing out,the highest bid I received to bring it to a #1 car was 65,000$ I could see why it would pay to purchase one already done and why the cars I looked at in #1 or #2 condition are as high as 40,000.The car I wanted to restore was a 35Ford 5window deluxe coupe.Thankyou all.

It is important to know that very few restorations reach the #1 level. If so, they are mostly "trailer queens", hauled from show to show because it is too risky to drive them. The essence of the hobby is to have a safe and fun vehicle to put on the road. For some of us, they are a time machine that takes us back to our youth. For others, it is a way to experience the technology of years long gone before their time. Don't let the dollar signs keep you from enjoying the "collector car" experience. Find a modestly priced car or truck that is in operable shape and you will see why so many of us are "old Ford nuts"!

Beautifully put Super, My 34 cabriolet started out with a restorer estimate @ 10K...by the time it was done it was quite a bit higher. My poor wife was apalled at the check writing but the guy was honest and did a great job.(partial restoration). What you write is what we're all about...drive them and enjoy a great product that used to be!
