Since I usually only drive in the spring through summer wondering if 140 wt.is absolutely necessary for rear axle. I have been running the 90wt in transmission all year long but have usually kept the 140 in rear,seems sometimes it is slow to shift on a cool day until it goes down the road a ways. Also since I have about equal amounts of 140 and 90 could I just use half of each? Wouldn't that be about like multiviscosity? Stuff I have is GL4 Stay-Lube says safe for brass stuff on label.

I never ran anything but 90 wt. in the Columbia. I lived in So-Cal. and our operating temps were from 26 deg. to 100 deg. I think 140 is a bit thick for summer ops.

I use SAE 80w-90 GL-5 in my Columbia, with operating temperatures ranging from 25-100+ here in SC.

37 coupe i recommend you use a multi viscosity oil 85-140 i do not recommend trying to mix two different viscosities! columbia guy
