I took apart the front leaf spring several years ago and removed any groves or in-perfections prior to painting all the pieces. I'm getting back to my project and I'm looking for advice on the safest/best way to reassemble it. Thanks for the help.

dso72; There will be several suggestions posted. The one way that I liked was get a extra long bolt. That way you can do one of two things 1) wrench it down until all leafs are together. Then use very large and heavy duty C clamps (4 is a good number) to clamp it so it stays together, and then remove extra long bolt and replace with factory replacement bolt (a super large vice will also work-but I haven't tried that). 2) a second variation to this is, once the spring is back together with the extra long bolt, cut it off to approximate length and then re-tap the end threads of the bolt. I know that the C clamps and bolt exchange work. Of course the best and safest way to re-assemble is to find a spring shop and pay them to do it -- much quicker for sure. Good luck and be safe.

While you have the spring apart I would suggest coating between the leaves with a lubricant. I coated between my spring leaves with Never-Seeze, the silver compound used on bolts. It allows the spring leaves to slid without any bind, I think it really improved the ride.
