shortarms    -- 05-14-2015 @ 5:15 PM
i'm looking to buy the all in one kit (flathead v-8) that included the 3 guage chrome panel, 2 stewart warner mechanical temp guages and one oil pressure guage, all the sending units for temp, and plumbing for oil guage.
this used to be available from hot rod and custom supply quite awhile ago.
any suggestions for vendor/suppliers?
thanks, short arms.

You can buy the individual mechanical S-W temperature gauges with sending units, the mechanical oil pressure gauge, separately offered tubing kit, or braided pressure gauge line kit, and 3-hole under dash mounting panel from Speedway Motors.

The devil is in the details .... Regardless of where or what you buy, if you want an assemble with lighted gauges, be sure it has bulb sockets allowing the bulbs to be replaced. 6 or 12 volt ?? I see inexpensive units where the bulbs have no sockets and are essentially throw-away .... then must try to locate the manufacturer to buy replacements. Ideally, the gauges are enclosed to contain the light.

I have wanted to add an SW oil pressure gauge next to my current water temp. gauge. I would like to know part numbers and all the items it takes to do this such as the tubing kit etc. Thanks

Here is a list of parts I used to install a mechanical oil pressure gauge in my '53 Ford V-8:
Part No. Description

665-82322 Mechanical Oil Pressure Gauge 5-80 PSI
665-814143 2-Hole Panel 2-1/6 in
617-406036 AN4 Braided Hose Gauge Kit
The above kit includes the following:
617-4025 Pressure Gauge Fitting #4-1/8 FEM
324-961604 Straight Adaptor #4 to 1/8 NPT
910-31846-4 36" Brake Line Straight
The above were all sourced from Speedway Motors and the numbers listed are their part numbers.
You will also have to source a couple of parts from a local auto parts store:
A Pipe Tee to fit your existing electrical oil filter sending unit and a Pipe Nipple to connect the Tee to the location on the engine where the original electrical sending unit was located. You may also need Part No. 45120 - 1/4" Adapter.
The Oil Pressure Gauge comes with a removable 12 Volt bulb. If you have a 6V system you will want to obtain a 6 Volt bulb. Be sure to use a ground wire to the gauges to insure a complete circuit so the lights will work.
Hope this info. is helpful.
If you don't mind having a plastic line transmitting the oil to the gauge, you can use Speedway Tubing Kit-Oil Pressure Gauge Part No. 665-82553 in place of the AN4 Braided Hose Gauge Kit.
