What is the "correct" type of hose clamp to use on radiator and heater hoses in a '47 Ford (could not find in my Early Ford V8 book). I was surprised to see that my local Ace Hardware store carries the old heavy-gauge double wire type.

Thanks Old Henry. I remember that type. I don't remember where I saw those wire-type clamps on .... looks like two parallel wires about 5/16" apart wrapping around the hose, with square nut and machine screw as tighteners. This message was edited by Drbrown on 5-13-15 @ 9:25 PM

They were used on the cars of the 50's. My 53 Lincoln has the original clamps on the hoses. The reproduction hose clamps, shown in Old Henry's post, barely work. The metal is a lighter gauge than original and they tend to stretch when tightened. Tom

TomO .... I remember those clamps .... even with the OE one's, when the machine screw and square nut rusted together, the nut would just spin around when one tried to remove the clamp.
