Bought a cabriolet wiper motor a while back. It is chrome plated. I rebuilt it and can not get it to work. I've been told that once an old motor is plated it will never work again. Is this true? I've had it tested outside the car and still no luck.

Old Green, there's probably an element of truth in what you heard, due to the paddle's need of perfect contact with a well honed vacuum chamber, which isn't always true after plating. A man who can fix it if it is fixable is Kent Jaquith in Oregon. He uses Neoprene in place of the old leather paddle on his rebuilds. Give him a holler for more knowledge about wipers than you really want to know.
