My project is now ready for the roof installation. I've seen the Jullianos kit, but am aprehensive to drill all those holes in the sheet metal and have concerns about leakage. I'd rather install a different color than the standard black that is offered also. At this point, I'd like to go with the chicken wire/batting that was originally used. I think there is a tack strip around the edge of the opening that needs replacement. Then, I'm not sure what the procedure would be to install the layers. Can anyone recommend where I can find the tack strip material and the steps needed for doing this?

In 35 the roof insert is held in with a rubber seal. The seal is sold by most of the V-8 parts vendors. The Juliano kit works well. I've installed three of them and they do not leak. In fact they are more water tight than the original.

Thanks for the reply. There is a channel around the inside where the rubber seal inserts that has some old tacking strip. It measures about 3/16" square and goes all the way around the inside of the roof. I don't know what material would have been attached, maybe the chicken wire and cloth? Anyway, I can't find anyone who has the strip. Has anyone replaced this before? I'm glad your experiences with the Julianos kit was good. I just might have to go that way myself. Thanks again. Alan

Brooktrout, you must be a trout fisherman. Next to old cars trout fishing is my favorite hobby. There is a tack strip and Ford used a tar paper type product for the tack strip. You might check with LeBaron-Bonney to see what they recommend as a replacement.
