Can a new body mount kit be installed on 40 sedan without completely removing body? What would have to be losened to change out rubber mounts a little at a time?

It is not possible to change the rubber mounting pads without taking out the body bolts. You may already know this, but the pads have a hole that the body bolt goes through. At the very least, you would have to take the bolts out; jack up the body at that spot enough to get the old pad out and the new one in. However, I would STRONGLY advise against this due to flexing of the body that could result in impossible alignment of doors and other components. In other words; permanent damage. Also there could be shims at some locations which would just mean more jacking.

We have replaced some, but not all, of the body mounting pads without removing the body, as the need required. The process isn't difficult, but it does change the relationship with the unreplaced pads. This creates problems with the fitting of the doors, if extreme. Then, shims must be placed to restore the "fit". In short, unless there is a pressing need to install new body mounts, it is best to not to do it.
