Topic: carriage bolts for wood in sedan delivery

  Hello,
Does anyone know where I can buy the stock bolts that help fasten the interior wood framing in a 1937 Sedan Delivery.

It is a carriage bolt style but has an extra large diameter oval head (15/16") and length of 2". Thread size is 5/16"-18.

I have looked at carriage and timber bolts but the head size is different (smaller). Elevator bolts have a large diameter head but it is flat not oval.

The nuts for these are T-nuts which seem to be readily available.

Thanks for any help

You might try Roy Nacewicz Ford Bolts. He restored a great looking 1937 Ford Sedan Delivery years ago.

Just a question, but how would you tighten those down to the wood without any way to grab them with a wrench?

good catch! The Tee nuts are used elsewhere in the wood parts. I just talked with Roy Nacewicz and he had the same question.

BTW, they don't carry these particular bolts. I will probably go with elevator bolts.

Try this fella Jim Gillen "apple valley stainless" 1-978-692-2421 // 1-603-891-2287 . Keep trying he will get back to you if no answer. He may have them. ken ct.

McMaster-Carr has a huge selection of elevator bolts. They can be ordered on line and it is usually next day delivery.
