My 46 front spring cover needs to be removed so I can take the spring apart and clean, bevel, lube and reassemble. Is it possible to remove the spring cover without destroying it and replace it afterwards when reassembling the spring?

When I did mine I took the leaves out one at a time and put it back together the same way, the covers are stapled and I think would be very difficult to get back together properly. Good luck, Rick

It can be done but you will need to flatten the spring out completely to do so. This requires a special fixture.

If you look in the KRW tool catalogue there is a picture of the tools required to correctly do the job, also the tools look easy to copy.

Thank you very much for the replies. I think I'll just look for another spring.
