Hey gang, Long time no see. My name is hal. I have a 36 Ford sedan, 4 dr. My problem is I installed both water pumps, and the four hose. I have 2 small leaks on each pump. I hate to take it all apart. I think the leaks are coming from 2bolts. I was wondering if Icould go and buy something and pour down the radiator. Would it hurt any thing. Other fix'es are welcome. Hal Thank's to all who answer. I appreciate it.

Hal, Don't do it! Take it apart and do it right. If you have a leak at the bolts I suspect the pumps are at fault. Are these pumps new, rebuilds or what? If they are neither, send them to Skip Haney for rebuild.

Here is what I would do: First drain the coolant into a large pan to save it for reuse, remove the two bolts where the coolant is leaking, dry them off and clean them with a solvent like lacquer thinner, coat the threads and shafts of the bolts with Permatex #2 non-hardening sealant, and re-install the bolts. After replacing the coolant, check for leaks. Hopefully this will cure your leaks.

Double Ditto on sealing the bolt threads per Carcrazy's suggestions, Hal. I used Permatex #2 on my water pump bolts and cylinder head stud threads with no leaks. Any time you have a bolt that penetrates the water jackets it's best to seal the threads. Also, I used to hurry my gasket installations by putting pumps back on and squeezing all the gasket maker out. Now I allow time for the gasket maker to set up a bit before torquing.
