I recently purchased a 1947 super deluxe, hope to have it back on the road this summer, however I was wondering where all the identification sat pigs are for the engine, transmission, frame, etc. what I mean is where should I look for a stamping on thoses parts .... Once I find than I will likely be back to ask for help I. Interpreting them!

Thank you in advance.

The serial number is stamped on the raised boss just above the inspection cover on the transmission. It is again stamped on top of the left frame rail near the front crossmember. This number is repeated on the top of the left frame just under the front door and also on the rear "kickup" of the frame. The serial number will only give you the sequential production number and nothing else. There are no numbers on the engine. If you do find some they were most likely put there by an engine rebuilder.

Order a copy of the V8 Club's excellent 41-48 book. It will tell you most, if not all, the fine points of these cars, and is indispensible
If you have a car of those years.
