So I found this 41 on craigslist and am wondering what you guys think. * Value? * Known Problems? * Does this year have the crank out front window?

1941s are great! They are a little bigger and a little heavier than a 1940. The engine is pretty much carryover 1940. The Super Deluxe models have the crank out vent windows on the front doors.

The biggest question you need to ask is,does the owner have a clear title to the car? The numbers on the title need to match the serial number on the frame found on the left frame rail near the front crossmember. If the numbers don't match or he can't produce a title walk away it could be a stolen car and the real owner might surface one of these days. It has happened in the past.

The 1941 Fords are desirable cars. Known problems on a 74 year old car are not anywhere near as important as the condition of the car. I don't know where you live, but I would try to contact someone familiar with the 41 Ford to evaluate its condition. You could try local appraisers or a member of the Early Ford V-8 Club. On the home page of this site, there is a link to show the Regional Groups of the Club. Contact the Group nearest to you to ask for help in contacting someone to evaluate the car. The Old Cars Value Guide may be available at your local library. It describes the 5 levels of condition and give estimate of value for all 5 levels. You can use it as a guide to value. Your area of the country may have lower or higher values on certain models of cars. The value of an antique car depends upon :Condition, desirability, body style and location, pretty much on that order. Convertibles and coupes have the most demand, but sedans are becoming more in demand as they are more affordable. The last Ford with a crank out front window was the 1939 closed cars. Tom

Matt, if you are new to the hobby DO NOT buy anything sight unseen. If the car is in your area take someone with you to look at it who is familiar with old cars.If the car is out of the area try to find someone to look at it for you. Let us know where the car is located and we may be able to find you someone who can examine it for you. Your first buying experience should be a happy one ,not one with "buyers remorse".
