what did the original area behind the front seat look like? I am just staring on the restoring a 1946 Ford Business Coupe. There was a back seat added by my dad in the 1950s.

The car was stored and forgotten about. the last licence plate was from 1955. My dad drove the car to UCLA when he went to school.

I have the ford book.

My father had one of those. It had black cardboard where the backseat would have been. He added some shelves to hold materials needed for his job.

I have a 1942 and it would be hard to have a back seat. The back of the front seat is one piece and has 2 clips to keep it in place. The whole back tilts forward but not much room to try and get in back.

I have the same issue with a '41 bus coupe. When I bought the car it had a rear seat (seat and back) tossed in the car that matched the upholstery of the front. I don't think it really belonged there. I have searched forums, car shows and internet looking for pics. Some have bench seats, opera seats, shelves and or nothing. As I will probably have interior installed next winter (2015) I need to make a decision on what if anything I'll put back there. My front seat is split that folds forward and some of those are different too. Good luck and have fun with your project. Bob A
