Hi Does anybody know the measurement of a 41 ford rear axle ? I need the measurement from wheel mounting surface to wheel mounting surface. The brake backing plate to backing plate isn't going to work for me , I measured one at 52" backing plate to plate. but am told that isn't accurate enough . I have a late model drivetrain right now (previous owner) but rear axle seems to be to wide. would like to find a smaller axle but would like to be as close as possible to the stock size so it will look right. What is the width of the axle that is in there now, wheel flange to wheel flange? Do you have parallel leaf springs? Are you using wheel adapters?

I hope this helps the rear tread for 1941 is 58.25". The rear tread for 1942-48 is 60". The rear spring length for 1941 is 48". The rear spring length for 1942-48 is 49.5". Fred Killian
