How do you get the ignition cylinder out of the ignition switch housing on a 1949 ford car?

RP, There should be an oblong hole on the key cylinder shaft near the switch housing. With a small screwdriver or punch, just press the button down and pull the key cylinder out with the key. Don

Thanks for your helpful information on the ignition switch. It was a bear but I finally got it out.The tumblers were coming apart and thats what made it so hard to get out. This one the switch key had to be in the run position to make the pin release.Replaced it with a Dennis Carpenter ignition cylinder and everything works perfect. Thanks Again RPB
