help needed: how do you remove the starter

To remove the starter, loosen the two through bolts and remove the little "L" shaped bracket that is bolted to one of the oil pan bolts. Be careful to keep the starter front and back plates against the cylindrical housing of the starter as you remove it. The starter should come right out. If it doesn't you can rotate it slightly and rock it back and forth to allow the Bendix drive on the shaft to get past the flywheel.
