  When changing a steering wheel what position should the key that holds things in place be in ? thanks s.

  Usually the key fits the shaft and wheel in only one place. You put the steering wheel on the shaft and CAREFULLY tighten the nut. Turn the wheel until the front wheels are exactly pointing forward. If the spokes of the steering wheel are not in the correct position, remove the drag link from the Pitman arm (the one on the steering box), and with wheels still pointing forward turn the steering wheel to the correct position and then adjust the drag link until it slips into the Pitman arm.
