  Good day gentleman,yesterday I removed the hood on my 48 2dr sedan, after removeing hood and two layers of skin off my knuckles,I wondered if it would have been easier to remove with hinges attched, any ideas.Tks JohnA

  Here's how I do it: 1. get an assistant to help you. 2. prop the hood up so that there is no tension on the springs. 3. cover the fenders so they don't get scratched. 4 remove the bolts on one side and have your assistant hold it while you remove the bolts on the other side. 5. Take the hood off going forward with it.

  Do not remove the hinges. They are a bear to align when they are re-installed. I also place towels or a blanket on the cowl to prevent scratches. I have been successful in removing and installing the hood by myself.

  I guess I wasn't too clear. I too leave the hinges attached to the cowl and take out the shoulder bolts in the hood.
