What product is used to attach the rubber to new running board and correct prep ?

I prefer 3M brand Rubber Adhesive. A quart can will run you about $50 but it WORKS. This is not a job you want to take a chance with a possibly inferior adhesive. Prep? Make certain the boards have been sand blasted and their is no residual oils, etc. on the metal. If there are any low spots (typically opposite the braces) level them with a metal infused filler (ex: All-Metal). Clean the back of your covers with lacquer thinner. Use a "scrubbie" pad as you want to rough up the surface a bit. Practice fit the covers. Once you are satisfied that they will actually fit, begin gluing the lip and perhaps the vertical edge. I'd let that set up before going any further. Then, glue along the entire length and maybe 2" - 3" at a time. Patience my friend, patience. Mike "Kube" Kubarth Do NOT stretch the rubber.

Based on the feedback I am hearing on Drake board fit, I think the Acuff is the way I will go. Do they fill the brace valleys prior to vulcanizing ? thank you

I have Acuff boards on one car('40) and put Drake boards on another('40). The Drake boards fit fine and look very good. I opted for the Drake boards on the second car to save a buck or two on shipping. I have no regrets on using the Drake boards. A friend has a '36 and used the Drake boards and is very happy with the fit of the Drake boards. He even bought two more sets for his other '36s. The main criticism I'm hearing on the Drake boards is the fact he stamps his logo on the cross brace of the board.JMHO

bondlero, The cover that Mr. Aucuff vulcanizes on your boards, looks exactly like the ones Henry had made. His process fills small imperfections in the steel and the board look very good. He uses a urethane and Drake say that he uses rubber in his replacement boards. My Aucuff board have been on for 10 years and 15,000 miles. They still look like new. Tom
