Topic: '38-'39 hood

I'd like to know what is the difference between a '38 De Luxe and a '39 standard hood? Anyone tell me?

Buford, The difference is in the mating profile of the grill area. The '39 goes to a sharper point, and the '38 flares out more on the sides. The difference is seen best with a '38 chrome nosepiece, as it won't fit the '39 hood at all. You say you have one of each, so you may also have the nosepiece I refer to. Under the hood, you'll also see some difference in the hood prop area, as the '39 will have two props, the '38 only one.

For future posts on a related subject, it would be helpful if you could reply to the original post, that way everyone could follow along with the subject. Your original question was just five days ago, so not too hard to find. Every time someone replies, it moves the post to the top of the page. Quite a few guys make a new post, so don't think this is directed to only you!

I don't know for sure about a 38 hood prop, but a 39 standard hood has only one prop on the drivers side.

My '39 hood has only a prop (with spring) on the driver side.
By the way thanks for the responses...

Oops. Well, got me on that one. At least the '39 has a spring instead of a ratchet!
