OD will not shift into high range, want to start checking with fuse. Where is that located?

I found the fuse, it's ok. Car goes into free-wheeling but will not shift into the high gear, any suggestions on what to look for?

You will get lots of suggestions, but you have to determine that power is getting to the solenoid and the solenoid is working. The relay on the firewall has a terminal marked "SW", When that terminal is grounded you should hear it click and you should have power on the solenoid terminal and if the circuit is complete you will hear the solenoid click in at the transmission. I have a PDF of a service book from Borg-Warner with a troubleshooting section but I can't figure out how to post it here.

Here is a link to trouble shooting a Borg-Warner Overdrive transmission.

Your system will have 6 volts instead of the 12 volts described in the article, but everything else should apply to your overdrive.

Thank you both, that's good information.

The manual will show a series of contacts that both allow, and then hold the solenoid. The contacts inside the solenoid case are most apt to cause your problem. The solenoid draws lots of current to pull, then it is held in place until released by a smaller coil inside the unit. If all seems to be OK, it is possible the balk ring in the OD is jammed, requiring removal and dis assembly to repair. We use a special tool to check that part.
