Any pros or cons on which would be a better/easy fit? Hardened valve seats an issue? (currently has bad original 32 v8) Thanks!

The 59 series engine has always been the rodders choice for adaptability and reliability. The helmet distributor on the 59 is also the better choice for reliability as well as fit. The 59 would have hardened seats, whereas some 8BAs may not, and is definitely an issue. Your definition of bad might be someone elses gold. Don't scr*p your '32 engine before offering it to someone who could use it. The bolt-ons alone could finance part of your upgrade. Alan This message was edited by ford38v8 on 9-25-14 @ 9:51 AM

In addition to my friend Alan's suggestions, we recently installed a 8BA in a customer's '38 tudor sedan at his request. It is a fairly easy swap requiring the clutch housing truck ring, and water pumps which allow the wide belt with correct front motor mounts. The 59A is a very good engine, but the 8BA has a better distributor setup with a vacuum advance, rotating valves with seals, and individual rod bearing inserts. Our customer wanted to preserve the "old" look, so we used finned heads with the center water outlet, and fabricated a distributor lock tab for the front of the right side head.
