I just bought a set of used 21 stud iron heads and this piece of mystery metal fell out of one. Have no idea if it inadvertently fell in to the head while in someone's garage or what. Can anyone identify it as being associated with a cylinder head?

My guess is,-- a piece of core wire left over from the casting process.
