Having just had Uncle Max rebuild my Strom. 97 I hate the thought of drilling a hole in the top of the float bowl to supply fuel for my South wind gasoline heater. Has anybody figured out a different fuel supply source ?

My car, before I replaced the Type 59 carb and intake manifold with the correct pieces, came with a spacer in between the carb and intake manifold that fed the Southwind. I replaced the 59 Carb and incorrect intake. The spacer was for Type 59, so I don't think it will help you with the Type 97. Here is a photo. Tony, Thank you for your reply. You are describing the plate for vacuum supply not the gasoline supply. A similar plate is used for vacuum to Columbia rear ends.

Yep, you're right. Just looked at the other photos I have. The fuel line comes out of the top of carb and the photo I posted is indeed the vac line. Very Sorry about the mix up. TonyM. . . . 78-73B

I've had Stromberg carbs equipped with a tube attached to the center bowl plug with a longer hollow bolt. The tube extended to the top of the carb & the heater fuel supply was taken from there. This eliminated the need to drill the top. I believe it was a Stewart Warner part.

Keith,I took off the carb what you need and cleaned it all up looks good. I'll let you have it for free just pay my $6 shipping to you. The main tube is loose where its soldered to the big brass block but could be resoldered easily. ken ct .
