  What is the best rear main seal to use in a 1952 flathead? thanks

  The stock rear main seal is a two part type with half in the block, and the other in the rear main bearing cap. The crankshaft must be removed, the seals pressed into the grooves, and the ends cut to fit. Be sure to press the bearing cap all the way to the block to be insure the seals are in place. The seal in the cap should extend about .080 to provide a good seal against the oil pan gasket. C&G (800/266-0470) shows the seal in their catalog as 91A-6347-BG, $20.
