Woe is me!--has anyone out there replaced their headliner in 48 Ford 2/dr sedan.I have sucessfully removed the old headliner, but am confused how the extra material and windlace are attached around the doors. almost looks like dash has to be removed also.Things are still attached as per original.

John, the windlace attaches with staples and it tacks strips that surround the door opening. You may have to replace the strips due to their age. Above your doors you will find a metal strip with "shark teeth" on the strip. You need to take this out in order to install the windlace. At the dash you may get by loosening the bolts that hold the dash to the body.Sew some longer strips of material on the windlace where it gets near the dash. You can pull on these strips to pull the windlace up close to the dash and then re-tighten the bolts. Below the dash are the metal retainers for the cowl panels. Take these out for now so you can install the windlace. I use pop rivets to install the windlace in this area. Be patient and take your time. Windlace is a time consuming job.
