Topic: 1940 Ford ragtop frame dilemma

I'm doing a body off restoration on my '40 Club Cabriolet and purchased a Body to Frame rubber mounting kit (01A-5001) from a leading supplier. I was surprised that the precut holes in all the multi-hole strips don't line up with the bolt holes in my frame and body - not even close. And yet the diagram says the kit is for a '40 Convertible. I called the supplier and he said that the kit was spec-ed out to match the bold holes on three separate '40 convertible frames, so he knows they're correct.

The serial number stamped on the frame is 18-5403562, but whether its the original frame is impossible to say (tho it's been under the body a long, long time).

Any way to tell for sure it's a club cabriolet frame?

According to VanPelt your frame number is for a 1940 vehicle. The number is a sequential engine number assigned when the engine was assembled at the Rouge engine plant. The number was transferred to the frame when the vehicle as assembled at an assembly plant. There is no way to determine what body was put on the frame from the frame number.
