The gas in the carburetor should not evaporate that fast, so I suspect that the power valve or power valve gasket is leaking. After sitting a week, you should have enough gas in the carburetor to start the engine.

If your fuel pump will not supply gas to the carburetor after about 1 minute of intermittent cranking with the starter, you probably have a vacuum leak in the supply side of the fuel system. The most likely suspects in order, are the sediment bowl gasket, the flex line and the fuel line connections.

The fuel line connections should have compression ferrules on them and they should be soldered.

The sediment bowl should have a rubberized cork gasket and the thumb screw should not be overtightened or it will distort the casting causing a vacuum leak.

Flex lines develop leaks at the crimps and will also leak if the rubber is cracked.

I can let my car sit for a couple of months and it will start without priming the carburetor.

An electric pump is just a band-aid.

As Tom said sounds like a PV or its gasket is leaking. Easy to change.Thoughif it starts and runs after primeing its not the FP. Either air leak at the glass bowl or in the lines somewhere ?? I have PVs separate from kits and in the correct #. ken ct. 1-203-260-5945 Do not use a rubber gasket under the glass bowl.
