I was wondering what type of oil I should run in my 50 ford crestliner with the 8BA motor? Also what should the oil pressure be I just got my wiring done so the original gauges are up and running. Now it's just glass and the heater. Where would i get the ducting for the heater also? Thanks for the help, Trevor

tsoza, use any good quality detergent oil for any flathead engine, a multigrade for your weather conditions. Oil pressure is good if it is 20 - 40# cruising, and don't worry if it goes almost to zero at a stop sign. As the flatheads have a bypass filter system at best, change your oil often, at 1000 miles or twice a year, whichever comes first. Oil capacity in any flathead is 4 qts without a filter, 5 qts with a filter. Some Ford literature says 5 without a filter, but that is incorrect. With the correct qty, check your dipstick, and mark that spot as FULL for future reference.

I use Castrol 20-50. You should be able to get the heater ducting from C and G Parts, Dennis Carpenter or Concourse Parts. If you know the diameter you might even try your local Napa Auto Parts store.

I use either Castrol 20W-50 or Rotella 15-40. Avoid synthetic oils, as they tend to leak past seals, and shouldn't be used, until new rings become seated.
