Topic: Old problem

This has probably been addressed before however. a search came up with nothing. This has to be an old problem.

Is there any sure-fire way to keep '36-'39 hub caps on the car and out of the ditch? I have worked on the clips the best I could but the problem persists.

I am open for new ideas!!

Thanks

Tom

I don't know if it would work for 36-39 caps but on my 47 I put little squares of Velcro around the edges and on the wheel to keep the loose ones from rattling.

If you are running radial tires, there is enough rim flexing to cause caps to work off. If you have repro caps, check to be sure that they are deep enough to clear the axle hubs.

Tom, there were some articles in the V-8 Times about the clips on the 36-39 wheels. Do a search in the searchable index on the home page.

The Early Ford V-8 Foundation has some of the issues for sale.

  Tom-

I found a reference to the '36-'39 clips in the 2005 May/June issue on page 4. I attempted to locate a back issue but evidently, they are not available. So, I am trying a new thread asking if anyone has a copy. Hopefully, someone does!

Thanks for the help.

Tom
