Topic: Unusual 1937 Ford Cabriolet

I would not have believed it had I not seen it with my own eyes--a 1937 Ford Cabriolet with a side mounted spare. Not attractive at all in my opinion. This is a screen grab from a 1938 film titled "Nancy Drew, Detective." The car is also modified with some sort of hood trim and an after market radio. I guess it would be too much trouble to move that front seat to get to the spare, so someone decided to cut a hole in that beautiful fender.

Aftermarket hood trim. What is that thing just below the left headlight?

Appears to be an aftermarket radio install. Nancy Drew star Bonita Granville was only 15 when she made this first Nancy Drew picture in 1938--she is actually driving this car in a lot of the scenes.

Tony, That's probably tape over a CAA road club badge. Movie studios never want to give away a free plug. They do still approach recognizable stores and such for sponsorships to picture their locations.

Tony, the 2014 photo site is no longer available. Go to Utube and search for Nacy Drew Detective.

Thanks Tom. I have about a dozen photos of this car in my own files.
