I think the hole for the windshield wiper for my cabriolet has been damaged. Could it be repaired by putting in a piece from the cowl of a sedan or coupe, with the same keyhole-shaped hole that has the notches for the retainer? Larry Lange Puget Sound Regional Group larrylange36@comcast.net

Larry, Keep in mind that the wiper hole in a sedan is in the upper header while the wiper hole in a cabriolet/conv-sedan is in the windshield opening. You would be better served repairing the hole that you have. Don

Don Speaking of sedans, does the 36 trico stem have a mounting hole? I rebuilt what I believe to be the original trico, but I do not have any wiper arm that mates to the stem. My camera would not focus close enough, but the attached does show the stem hole...

Don, thanks again. Granted, the opening is in a different location on the cabriolets and convertible sedans. Could I use a sedan or coupe piece as a pattern for repairing the hole in my cabriolet? Larry Lange

MichV8, You would use an early wiper arm and blade as shown in a photo from Bob Drakes Catalogue and from a Ford Parts Book.

Larry, I would use your wiper motor spacer to reshape the hole in the windshield frame.

No Larry. Closed cars use one spacer...Cabriolets and conv sedans use another...and roadsters and phaetons use another.

Don, that makes sense. I'm assuming that the hole in the cowl sheet metal is the same but the length of the spacers varies because of the difference in the configurations of the windshields. Do I have that right? Larry Lange /PSRG
