Topic: Plugged Fuel Line 39 FordTudor Deluxe

Have owned this Ford for 45 yrs (1969). Went thru it 40yrs ago. Car does sit at times for 5-8 yrs w/o starting. Usually change oil, crank until oil pressure shows movement and pour 2-3oz gas down carburetor (fuel pump loses prime) and she starts. This time, 11 yrs, had to go thru ignition but fired fine w/fuel prime in carb, but would not stay running. Disconnected fuel line before bowl, hand transfer pump, nothing. Tried to suck fuel myself but got nothing but hose stuck to end of my tongue from suction. Appox 8-10 gal gas in car. Appears to be plugged, could be rusted closed. Any specific areas in gas line where this could occur. Tried some back flush w/air, went up to just under 40 lb. Don't want to take chase damaging anything in fuel tank (disturbing too much sediment, or damaging sending unit). Any ideas.

The copper coated fuel lines are being corroded by the alcohol in the gas. You need to replace the complete line from the tank to the firewall. Roy Nacewicz sells the correct copper coated line. Unlike some of the others being sold, his is coated on the inside and outside.

You should also consider replacing the flex line between the fuel line and the fuel pump.

If you decide to try blowing out the line again, make sure that you disconnect it at the tank, so you do not blow any of the debris back into the tank. If you have already done this, you should consider having the tank boiled out and coated.
