I put front tube shocks on my 48 Merc fordor recently and it made a huge improvment. Purchased kit from C&G.
simple job. Remove lever shock from frame amd link from existing perch. The kit has new perches but you can use your originals if they're undamaged. Kit supplies brackets and all fasteners. No drilling or welding. The instruction calls to tap the hole in the perch to match the shock lower bolt thread. Easy job with super result. Photos attached

Are you talking about the cost of the axle/wishbone bolts or the bolts that go through the eye on the wishbone bolt? I think I have one of the axle/wishbone bolts if you need it.

I am looking for the bolts, and info if anyone ever drilled out the axle

What bolts are you looking for and what drilling of the axle are you talking about? The entire front kit costs 228.00 if I remember correctly and contains everything you will need. What kind of car and year are you working with?

If you are refering to the front spring mounts that also attach the wishbone to the axle, be aware they are tapered. This is why they resist removal. Heat will sometimes loosen them, but I have gotten them almost red hot, and still haven't released., and may affect the temper of the axle. You may need to disassemble the axle and have a machine shop press them out.
