Front spring on the 36 coupe might need rebuilding. Have seen posts before about the best way to go but unabe to find them on the forum. Look for complete spring assy or would the main spring leaf do the job?
And where would be a source for either. Thanks again

I am all for replacing old springs and do so with each restoration. The difference it makes when the proper vehicle height and handling characteristics have been restored is amazing.
Locating NOS springs is of course tougher than it used to be. Still, they are not that scarce and with a little hunting and patience can be acquired. NOS tend to bring between $150 - $200. NORS bring less.
I would suggest you start your search by contacting the NOS parts dept. at Carpenter. Little Dearborn may have them as well. However, I would caution you if they say they have - be CERTAIN they are NOS and not NORS.
Replacing just the main leaf will most certainly help and is a "second choice" in my opinion.
If you go this route be certain to clean the remaining leaves thoroughly and smooth away any worn areas typically near the ends so the leaves may glide as intended.
Re-arcing is in my opinion a "poor man's choice". Re-arcing, typically done by placing the main leaf in a press and "over bending" it, can't restore the proper load and rebound characteristics authentically designed and built in to a leaf. Once the steel has been de-stressed, it is de-stressed. Period. Yep, you may regain the correct height, but you will never regain the proper handling.

Try Eaton Springs in Michigan. They have the original Ford specifications and build new springs.
