  Need more help please------bought a new hand brake cable for my 46convertible.it is the right length but it comes up a few inches short.Do I have to expand the rear shoes all the way out? With or without the brakes on? Thank you,John Lubinski

  There should be two adjustments on the correct cable. At the handle end, there is a clevis and a lock nut. On the back end there should be a threaded rod that goes thru the curved part (the equaized). With the rear brakes correctly adjusted, and the ends of the cable that spans from backing plate to backing plate secure in the notched ends of the lever in each, you should adjust the cable from the handle to the equalizer until it firmly sets the rear brakes, but leaves the wheels free when the handle is in the release position. If the main cable shield doesn't reach all the way between the handle and the bracket on the torque tube, you have the wrong cable.
