Is there anyone familiar with the quarter window regulars on 42-48 Fords & Mercury convertibles The gears are fine but no tension the weight of the glass will lower the window I tried all the normal places but they just want to sell rebuilt ones , in pairs no less. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks

If the regulator is badly worn or weathered, they get sloppy. When I restored my '47, we made new crankshafts that took out most of the free play. There should also be a guide for the window frame below the top of the side panels that may be missing, and replacing the fuzzy strips will help. Getting those quarter windows aligned can be a lengthy job.

Supereal, the problem is the window comes down on its own ,turns the handle as it does. Will not stay in up or half way up position. Thanks for your input.
