Can anyone give me some info/tips to replace the w/s rubber seal on a 1948 Ford 2 dr sedan? Never tried it before, but it appears to be a relatively simple task. Any input????

Tedious. There are some metal tabs that hold the glass in place. If you are not careful you will break the glass trying to remove the rubber and glass.

I will post the complete directions that were published years ago by Dennis Carpenter as soon as I locate that file. It has helped many do the job with the aid of a helper.

Found it. If you follow the pictorial instructions contained in the two pages. you should be able to relace the windshield glass with no problems. Be sure that you have the correct rubber gasket before you start. I've done several of these, and the only hitch came when I was sent the wrong rubber. They look very much alike, but there are differences.

Here is the second page. Dennis Carpenter is a first class company, and this set of instructions has helped lots of us learn the tricks to the job.

I replaced the windshield glass in my '46 woodie by using the Dennis Carpenter instructions and had no problems at all. Make sure you use plenty of lubrication to make the glass and rubber move easier. Another set of hands helps also.
