Topic: Bendix cover on 1946 engine

  Looking up underneath my car I can see the Bendix spring. I am told there should be a cover there.

I've tried to find photos of it in my Early V8 books and on the internet but all I could find was this thread with a photo of what looks like soft drink can:

I was wondering if anyone might have a photo of this part of the engine?

  You can see part of it on page 214 of the Green Book.

I would look for another oil pan. The part that you are looking for is not reproduced and was not available for replacement when these cars were in daily use.

The pop can replacement is not recommended.
