I had a problem finding a 6 volt battery that would fit under the floor of my 1934 Cabriolet, i.e. under 8'' tall. I did not want to pay for a "script" battery available from some vendors. I found a compact Super Start regular battery at O'Reilly Auto Parts. I am just passing this along for anyone who may be interested.

What are the overall dimensions (L,W, & H) and cold cranking amp rating for this battery from O'Reilly? I too will never buy another Ford script lead acid battery for my '35 Fords. I have been using the 6V Red Top Optima batteries in my Fords. I make a special holder that clamps into the original battery box that's under the floor and requires no other modifications. I don't try to hide them in an empty lead acid case and I don't care about losing show points. These batteries crank my cars like they are 12v. John

The only 8 volt that I've found at parts store that fits upright under the 34 stock 34 Ford floor would be the the early VW 6V battery. I don't think it has the cold cranking amps for the 221 Ford V8. 1934 Ford's since 1972

The part # is 19L. 8.25L X 6.75W X 7.5H, 440 CCA.

JD, the dimensional size for that 19L looks okay, but CCA rating is very low IMO. The Optima 6V Red Top is rated at ~ 800 CCA. Don't recall what the lead acid 2LF Ford Script batteries available today are rated at. Maybe ~ 600 CCA? John This message was edited by JM on 5-22-14 @ 5:47 AM
