Topic: Fat carburetor jets

I cannot believe I only have 75 miles on this new engine; gotta get the flattie on the road! STATS: '35 coupe w/LB 21 stud .060 over flat tops with iron heads, Isky 77B cam and a model 59 Holley from a later V-8. SQUAWK: Running out of fuel at speed with .051 jets, changed to .055 from parts car and solved the high speed miss but now running a bit rich. Does anyone have a jet size recommendation or A SOURCE for Holley jets where I can buy an assortment? Thanks Y'all, Terry

Terry, put your 51s back in, the jets are not your problem. You are experiencing a lack of fuel in your bowl itself, which would starve the largest jets you could find.

Fuel delivery to the carburetor is usually the cause. Second guess is the needle valve and float level. Address each possible cause in turn and you will soon have miles and smiles.

Your .051 marked jets genni Holly .051's are more like .050./ I have true hole size of .051 .052 .053 if that's your problem might have some 54's also. Using a steel inlet needle [not rubber tipped] I hope and leather accelerator pump. Try setting float @ 1 3/8", float drop should be at least 1 1/2". I have all the old-school nos parts if you need.
